About The Bougie Buddy

The Bougie Buddy started because of one very special dog: Yadid — my Bub, my Buddy.

I was in a lonely place and needed a companion — someone just for me. So I went to the pound and asked if they had any pit bulls. The dog catcher warned me the one they had was “vicious.” I told him I wanted to see him anyway.

We walked past a few kennels until I saw this little pit bull–Australian Shepherd mix sitting in the back, looking terrified. When the catcher approached, Yadid growled. I asked his age. The catcher said he didn’t know — he wasn’t about to stick his hand in that dog’s mouth.

I asked the catcher to step out of sight. I was going in.

I opened the kennel door, turned my back to him, sat down on the floor, and spoke softly — telling him he was handsome, that I wouldn’t hurt him, that he was safe. After a few quiet minutes, I felt a nudge under my arm. That was it. Love. Instant and forever.

I checked his teeth (he was about four months old), told the catcher I’d take him, and giggled when he looked shocked that I’d put my fingers in “that dog’s mouth.” Papers were drawn up, and I lifted Yadid into my truck. From that moment, he loved me and that truck more than anything.

Yadid was always there. When I had no one, he was my best friend. He rode with me everywhere, went fishing, went camping, slept beside me. He even started warning me before seizures or Ménière’s attacks — nudging, pawing, refusing to leave my side until I was safe. He was loyal, fiercely protective, and completely devoted.

I may have saved him from that kennel, but he saved me in every way that mattered. We always saved each other.

When heart disease took him from me, my world shattered. I still miss him every single day. But the love he gave me never left.

That’s why The Bougie Buddy exists.

It’s not just about clothes or collars — it’s about celebrating every dog who becomes more than a pet. Every dog who becomes family. Every dog who saves us right back.

Every piece we make is a little tribute to the legends like Yadid — the scared ones, the loyal ones, the ones who love us when no one else does.

Because every pup deserves to feel bougie… and every owner deserves to remember the buddy who changed their life.
